What does it do?
The unit receiving the AIS data is a COMAR SLR350Ni
-this feeds data directly into Marine Traffic Servers, it also feeds the data to a PC running NMEA Router where the data is also feed to AIS-catcher.
The AIS-catcher then shares this ship position data directly to APRS.fi - more info.
The NMEA Router also so feeds the data to the SARTrack AIS server - which can be used by Search and Recue teams using the SARTrack software.
You can access the data via Marine Traffic's Apps & website.
